expecting the moon, moths are confused by electric lights and batter themselves to death.
For what? Why?
We only switch our outside lights on briefly when we need to see something.

I saw one of these a few months ago during the morning on my lawn near the patio. I came inside after feeding the wild birds and discovered the moth had followed me inside. I was awestruck as this was the first time I had ever seen one. I wanted to take a picture with its wings fully spread but was afraid it would fly around the house. I took the cardboard box it attached to and took it outside where it flew away. What an unbelievable experience. Such majesty!
